The objective structures of the world in our time are defined by technologies often possessing a machine intelligence capable of processing more information more quickly than the human brain. Computerized systems of surveillance and control create nooks of order and safety and ease-of-life even as they impinge upon our privacy and simplicity. Moreover, as the human brain interacts with artificial systems through mobile phones, games, and other technologies it changes in measurable and complex ways that have not yet been fully examined. Our inner worlds of action and knowing receive awe-inspiring informational input from our late industrial, data-driven societies.
The human body becomes nimbler through stretching and shaking, good nutrition and activity. The result is enhanced flexibility and dexterity; in an athlete, the the ballet dancer’s splits or a boxer’s footwork. Objective social systems also may become nimbler through the application of methodologies which emphasize empirical feedback, self-management, and continuous quality improvements within short iterations. Some project management methodologies include a role for the Product Owner, who is like the Yang, the Team, which is like the Yin, and the Scrum Master, which is Yung. Leadership in a Yung style facilitates change by empowering self-organization and rapid adaptations.
A social project requires management systems such as the Agile system which gives an important role for a Product Owner, the role of a person as opposed to a committee. This person’s responsibility is for handling the so-called Product Backlog. Responsibilities are in seven major areas including prioritizing the items to-do items, optimizing the value of development teams, and performing triage in a manner that is transparent to multiple teams and levels of management. Thus, this person is directly responsible for nipping the backlog, bite by bite, nibble by nibble. The Yang-style leadership reduces work in manageable amounts.
Black’s Law Dictionary defines a Nation as “A people, or aggregation of men [and women], existing in the form of an organized jural society, usually inhabiting a distinct portion of the earth, speaking the same language, using the same customs, possessing historic continuity ….” In the United Kingdom (UK), the role of Prime Minister is given seven primary functions ranging from political leadership to managing the executive branch to representing the country in international affairs. The nation itself is the container for the activities of governance, comprised of observable systems with nexus-agency, including laws which impact all the social systems.
